We are excited to announce that applications for Epsilon Camp 2026 are now open! Epsilon Camp 2026 will be held from July 19th to August 2nd at Utah State University in Logan, Utah.

Video Explanation Instructions

As part of the application, your child must submit a short video in which they explain one Exploration Problem they especially enjoyed. We will watch the first 5 minutes of your video. This video allows us to hear how your child thinks about mathematics, in their own voice and in their own words. In the video, your child should:

  • Say which Exploration Problem they chose

  • Explain what drew them to it

  • Walk through how they thought about the problem

  • Describe any strategies, questions, discoveries, or even mistakes they made

How to Record the Video

This video does not need to be edited or polished. We are not evaluating video quality. Please do not prepare a formal presentation. It should not be rehearsed.

Here are some simple ways your child can record and show their work:

  • Stand in front of a whiteboard or chalkboard and explain using a marker/chalk

  • Sit at a desk and write with a marker on blank papers as they explain it (be sure the written work can be clearly seen in the video)

  • Use Zoom or another screen recording tool to share their screen and walk through a written solution

  • Write on a tablet using a drawing app while narrating aloud

Any method is fine, as long as we can hear your child speak clearly and see their work as they talk.

How to Submit the Video

You may use any platform that generates a shareable viewable link. We do not endorse any specific platform, so use whichever is easiest for you. However, we cannot accept direct video file uploads.

YouTube

To upload as “Unlisted”

  1. Go to https://youtube.com/upload

  2. Upload your video

  3. In the visibility settings, select Unlisted

  4. Copy the generated Unlisted link

  5. Paste that link in the Google Form

If privacy is a concern:

  • You may set the video to Private instead

  • Then, add admissions@epsiloncamp.org as a viewer under sharing permissions

  • Do not use “Private” unless you’ve explicitly added our email

Google Drive / Dropbox / OneDrive / iCloud / Box

Instructions (works similarly across platforms):

  1. Upload your video to your chosen platform

  2. Right-click the file and select “Get Shareable Link” or “Share”

  3. Set the permissions to:

    • Anyone with the link can view (IMPORTANT: Do NOT require sign-in to view)

  4. Copy the link and paste it into the Google Form

  5. Double-check access settings

Privacy Option (If “anyone with the link” makes you uncomfortable), set the video to Private, and share explicitly with: admissions@epsiloncamp.org

We will only use the video for admissions review and will not share or retain it beyond the evaluation process.

Please test your link before submitting:

  • Open a new browser window where you’re signed out of your Google/YouTube/Dropbox account

  • Paste the link and confirm that it opens and plays without requiring a login
